Up and coming stars the ones to watch

With all of Europe’s top leagues starting this week, we thought it would be a good idea to make a list of some of the hottest young talent set to make a name for themselves in the 2019/20 campaign.


With so much young talent currently around in Europe’s top clubs we have picked the cream of the crop to whet your appetite for the upcoming season!

Mason Greenwood

Club: Manchester United 

Age: 17

Position: Striker 

Greenwood is tipped for big things this year by the Manchester United coaching staff. His prolific goal scoring record of 44 matches played with 46 goals and 16 assists has seen him become a more regular feature of united first team of late. 

He can strike the ball comfortably with both feet and has been likened to the great Robin van Persie. With blistering speed and calm head in fort of goal Greenwood is one to watch out for this year!

Takefusa Kubo

Club: Real Madrid

Age: 18

Positon: Attacking Midfield

Widely known as the ‘Japanese Messi’ Kubo originally signed with Barcelona as a as youth player and spent 4 years in their academy, before Fifa ruled that he must return to Japan for breaching rules regarding the transfer of youth players. 

On returning to Japan Kubo became Youngest player in J.League history to play first team football at 15y 5m 1d and the youngest goal scorer in J.League history: 15y, 10m, 11d . A technically gifted and hugely talented attacking midfielder, he possesses wonderful vision, quick feet and has an eye for goal. A huge acquisition for Real Madrid with a bright future in front of him.

Jadon
Sancho 

Club: Borussia Dortmund 

Age: 19 

Position: Midfield 

Sancho who left Manchester City in 2017 for £8 million has since gone on to be a revelation for Dortmund. Last year Sancho was the only under-23 player in Europe’s five major leagues to register double figures for goals (12) and assists (14) for the season. 

The Dortmund number seven possess huge amounts of pace and skill and frightens defender in 1 v1 situations. Now breaking on to the international scene with England, the sky is the limit for Sancho in 2019/20. 

Joao Felix

Club: Athletico Madrid

Age: 19

Position: Midfield

Joao Felix, became a regular for Benfica at the start of 2019 (he started just five games in 2018) before finishing the season with 20 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances. This form in the back end of the season earnt him a huge move to Athletico Madrid for a whopping £113 million, making him the fourth most expensive player of all time

A hugely talented player with incredible vision, passing bags of creativity and eye for goal! Felix will have a lot of pressure on him this year to live up to such a high price tag but with the talent he possesses he could well live up to it and surpass it!

Phil Foden 

Club: Manchester City 

Age: 19

Position: Midfield

Phil Foden is a product of the Manchester City Academy and a local lad who grew up supporting the club. According to Pep Guardiola ‘he most talented player he has ever seen’. That’s big statement from a man who has also coached the likes of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta!

Foden showed glimpses of his ability last season in the City’s midfield. He is a creative midfielder and fantastic playmaker with qualities on and off the ball also popping up with some goals. 

So, there are our up-and-coming player we recommend you keep an eye out for this year. With so many quality teams and possessing new levels of footballing talent, 2019/20 is set to be a fantastic year for football fans.
