Tiger Street Football Finals Underway

Posted by KIKOFF | 20th August 2014

Back in June we held a Tiger Street Football qualifying competition at KIKOFF Fraser Park, the eventual winners, Latin Lovers, won the experience of a lifetime - heading to three cities in Asia over three weekends to take on the continents finest for a share of over US$100,000! With the first weekend taking place in Cambodia, we check up on the competition and how they are progressing.

The main change this year was the ability for the competitions ambassador, former Barcelona, Porto and Chelsea midfielder Anderson Luis de Souza (that's Deco to you and me) to change the rules. What if you could change the rules? What if you could take the game you love and transform it for the better? What if you could #uncagefootball?

Yes, football is surely the beautiful game. But it’s got an ugly side too. All those 0-0 bore draws! The amazing playacting, the defensive tactics, dare we say it… the biting?! This year, Tiger Beer is on a mission to uncage football from its traditional shackles and bring the amazing creativity of Asia to life, fans are encouraged to share what they love and hate about the beautiful game - and in the process suggest rules to add to the competition by visiting uncagefootball.com.

The best suggestions will be implemented by Deco during the tournament, which kicked off in Cambodia on 9 August, followed by Mongolia on 23 August and finishing off with the final leg in Singapore on 6 September 2014.

The first weekend got off to a great start with the favourites Dat Vinh Tien FC from Vietnam taking three wins from three and building up an impressive +28 goal difference! Our boys the Latin Lovers placed 3rd in the table after 1 win/1 draw/1 loss. Check out the table below for the latest standings after Weekend 1. The next weekend starts on Saturday where the teams will face off for another three fixtures in Mongolia.
